Video: ‘Drunk’ Delhi Police Allegedly Rapes Woman at Gunpoint, Sent For 14-days Custody

An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police from Delhi has been taken into custody for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman at gunpoint under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place in Delhi on Thursday night i.e., July 9 2015. The Police officer who was indulged in the crime has been arrested and sent to 14 days of Judicial Custody today. Jayveer Singh (50), who is the accused worked as Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police at Punjabi Bagh police station in West Delhi.

Investigation Revealed the Truth

According to the victim, the accused was fully drunk and raped her at gunpoint. Actually, Jayveer, the accused had met the woman’s owner few months back at the time of investigation of a case. After that, they became good friends. Two days back, i.e., on Thursday, the woman’s owner invited Singh to a party. The victim works as a maid in the friend’s house of Jayveer Singh. She was then asked by her owner to take Jayveer to the guest room where the suspect allegedly raped her at gunpoint. He even threatened her that she would be facing dire consequences if she informs about this incident to anyone.

According to the statement of Victim, “Jayveer used to call the victim as his daughter and that’s the reason she couldn’t believe his way of behaviour and actions towards her. When, the incident took place, she was totally blank and lost her senses.”

Evidence: CCTV Footage

The woman approached the Delhi Police on Friday. The victim was then sent for medical examination which confirmed that she is raped. Immediately, an FIR has been registered against the accused at Rani Bagh police station in Delhi. As per the reports, this incident has been captured in CCTV cameras and now, the Delhi police are trying to check the authenticity of the CCTV footage.

BS Bassi, Delhi Police Commissioner said that, “A police officer has indulged in a crime. We have taken strict action. We are determined to act on our own and won’t wait for departmental enquiry. He is going to be dismissed.”

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh also said that proper action will be taken in the case.

AAP demands Resignation of BS. Bassi 

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is in power in Delhi, has demanded the resignation of Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi regarding the incident. The Delhi police comes under the control of the Central Government.

AAP leader Ashish Khetan said that, “If Delhi Police is involved in crime, who will take care of the law? The crime graph has increased in Delhi because the police is now involved in criminal activities.”

He also said that the crime has took place in the national capital and moreover the state’s police personnel themselves are involved in such criminal activities.
