Telangana GHMC to Grant Sanction to Swachh Hyderabad Proposals


Telangana Government’s mega city cleaning campaign Swacch Hyderabad afforded the state administration and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with jaw-dropping outcomes. Telangana state government’s initiative Swacch Hyderabad programme has appropriate Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with a total of 8,562 proposals for improvement of amenities with works related to roads, storm water drains, parks and playgrounds, drainage network and water supply. GHMC assigned teams during the Swacch Hyderabad campaign referred these proposals to local body after surveying the immediate needs in the city with local residents and officials.

Reportedly, while responding to the media Somesh Kumar, Commissioner and Special Officer, GHMC termed Swachh Hyderabad drive as overwhelming on part of the citizens and said though the initiative which started on May 16 officially concluded on May 20. Despite calling off the mega campaign Swacch Hyderabad still many teams are visiting the assigned areas. “Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao visited his area on Sunday and interacted with the residents” said Somesh Kumar, Commissioner and Special Officer, GHMC. The process of sifting through the proposals received so far has commenced and they were being listed out and prioritised.

Official reports of the GHMC state that for Swacch Hyderabad mega campaign initiative, city was divided into 400 units and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced Rs.50 lakh to each unit for taking up development works. Added to this the in many places if there is any insufficiency and need of more amount then in such cases more funds would be provided based on the need which ensures good times to Hyderabad. Most of the proposals received by the GHMC addressed works on compound walls, managing electricity wires hanging precariously in residential areas apart from roads and drains.

Scrutiny of the received proposals and applications would be carried out by Tuesday as by the officials of GHMC, which plans to start issuing sanctions for taking up identified works immediately. Telangana State government and the Hyderabad city administration has been striving hard to make the capital city  a world class city and most desired hub for the industrialist to invest in.
