Eminent Tollywood Playback Singer V. Ramakrishna is Dead


The Legendary film singer in Tollywood , Vissamraju Ramakrishna passed today (July 16th) morning in Hyderabad at Venkatadri hills in his residence at the age of 68. He is suffering from cancer and undergoing treatment from some time in Venkatadri hospital at Jubliee hills. He is a wonderful singer whose voice resembles the legendary Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao and literally Ramakrishna worshipped Ghantasala as his GOD.

Palyback singer V.Ramakrishna is no more

Ramakrishna was born on 20th August 1947. He is survived by his wife, son Sai Kiran who is an actor cum singer which he debuted with Nuvve Kavali in 2001 and daughter Lekha. He worked for more than 200 movies in Telugu film industry and 5000 songs to his credit. He is well known for devotional (Bhakthi) songs. His father was Vissamraju Ranga Sai and mother Ratnam who is the sister of great singer P. Susheela. Ramakrishna studied B.Sc. and later he started his career as a singer at very young age on popular show Yuva Vani” on All India Radio.

In 1972, he made his singing debut with the Telugu song “Vayase Oka Poolathota” from “Vichitra Bandham”. Most of the top actors in Telugu film industry like NTR, ANR, Shoban Babu, Krishnan Raju etc. preferred him to lend his voice to their movies.

Famous singer V. Ramakrishna is dead

Ramakrishna is well known for his Telugu Veera Levara in Krishna’s Alluri Seetharama Raju and Siva Siva Sankara in Krishnam Raju’s Bhakta Kannappa and several timeless classics in films like Muthyala Muggu, Dana Veera Sura Karna etc. Ramakrishna’s cremation will take place this evening. The Telangana state’s Minister of Cinematography, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and several film celebrities paid their homage to the legendary singer.

Flautist and music director Nagaraj expressed his shock and said Ramakrishna was one among the popular singers having golden voices. The veteran playback singer’s last rites will be performed on Thursday.
