After the historic win against the defending champions India in the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan team arrived their country and the team was given a warmth and a great welcome by the Pakistani cricket fans. There were men, women and children packed Karachi Airport as their team returned from England as the Champions.
Thousands of fans gave the Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed a heroic welcome as he arrived home carrying the Champions Trophy on Tuesday. After reaching his home, Sarfraz held up the trophy to loud cheers and chants of “Long live Sarfraz!”.
“We won, thanks to Allah and the prayers of the whole nation,” Ahmed said. He jostled his way through the crowd of well-wishers. The whole country sparked after Pakistan’s victory against the arch-rivals, where cricket is the number one sport.
Sarfraz was showered with bouquets and given a traditional skull cap and an ‘Ajrak’ shawl, which is usually presented as a mark of honor. Sarfraz’s residential block in central Karachi was adorned with colorful lights and Pakistan flags, while fans climbed on rooftops and balconies to watch him return home.
For any team, there is a right of celebrating their victory but not demoralizing the other team. While Sarfraz was addressing, people started shouting ‘Mauka Mauka’ and Sarfraz also joined them.
After the match, the Indian captain Virat Kohli applauded and appreciated Pakistan cricket team for their wonderful performance throughout the tournament but Sarfraz’s reply isn’t quite good from Indians point of you.
