Due to the strike going on by RTC, South Central Railway took this opportunity to start the air-conditioned double-decker train. AC double-decker train has run between Kacheguda and Vijayawada operated on Monday. This has got a good response from the passengers. The train (no. 02118) left Kacheguda at 06.45 a.m. and reached its destination at 1.10 p.m. It made its return journey train (no. 02117) left Vijayawada at 2.45 p.m. as per schedule.
The air-conditioned double-decker took its first ride with 10 AC coaches. In view of the summer vaccation period, South Central Railway has planned these trains to clear rush between Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
Because of the strike by RTC employees the SCR has started trains to provided relief for passengers who were struggling to reach the Capital city due to strike.
SCR has tested practically tracks for possible introduction of double-decker luxury trains between Vijayawada and Kacheguda. The train route was via Warangal. All the officials of SCR had took a deep breath a sigh of relief as the trains had a smooth journey. Kacheguda and Guntur route was tested in last year. SCR is to extend this AC double-decker luxury trains up to Vijayawada.
Final decision was not yet made by SCR.
